Frequently asked questions

What does the free tier cost, and what is the catch?

Nothing, and the catch is visible: the calculator carries a "Powered by Kalcify" bar linking back to the tool page. Everything else is identical to the paid embed — same calculations, same updates, same speed. If the attribution bar is fine on your site, you never need to pay us.

What exactly does the license remove?

The attribution bar, and nothing else appears in its place. A licensed embed carries no Kalcify branding, no advertising and no analytics of ours — the frame is your page as far as your visitor is concerned.

Is one license enough for my whole site?

Yes. A license is issued against one domain and covers every subdomain of it and every tool you embed there, with no cap on page views. A second brand on a second domain needs a second license.

Do my visitors’ numbers reach your servers?

No. Every calculator runs entirely in the browser — the same code described on our methodology page. We serve the page and never see what anyone types into it, which is the answer your compliance reviewer is looking for.

Who keeps the tax rates and thresholds current?

We do, as part of the license. Rates are reviewed at the start of each tax year for every jurisdiction we cover and whenever a mid-year change is published. Updates reach your embed the moment we deploy — there is nothing on your side to re-paste.

What if the calculator I need does not exist yet?

We build it. Custom tools start at $499 plus the annual license, and the price depends on whether the logic is documented and whether it can run client-side. Send us the rules you need modelled and we will quote before any work starts.

What happens when the license lapses?

The embed keeps working — it falls back to the free tier and the attribution bar reappears. Your visitors never see a broken page, and renewing restores the white-label rendering without touching your site.

Limits

What a license does not buy

The calculators are informational, and licensing one does not transfer professional responsibility for its output. Tax tools produce estimates, not filings; health tools are screening aids, not diagnoses. If you publish a calculator to your clients, the advice built on top of it stays yours.
